Jo Heywood is Head of Heathfield School in Ascot, one of the most famous all-girls boarding schools in the UK.
Jo has headed the school since 2009 and was previously Deputy Head.
As a Headmistress and mother of three daughters, she is passionate about girls’ education.
A scientist, with a degree in Applied Chemistry, she is particularly dedicated to opening up opportunities for girls to study academic subjects which might previously have been seen as traditionally male.
She is also keen to air the subject of girls’ self-esteem and damaging influences to it in today’s society including the growth of the celebrity culture, the representation of women in the media and the cult of thinness.
She has taught in mixed and girls’ only schools and has worked in both the State and Independent sectors.
